Members" News for the Month of August

Well, it's mid-summer and we've all been busy making jewelry and many of us are also doing summer craft fairs.  Here's a run down of where we are and what we're up to this coming month.

Danielle Miller Jewelry and her social media efforts were mentioned in the "Net Profits" articles in the July and August issues of Lapidary Journal/Jewelry Artist. Her "Ridge Cuff" was featured in gallery of contributors in the August issue.

Reagan Hayhurst will be participating in the 39th Annual Mt Gretna Art Show, Aug 17th and 18th.

L. Sue Szabo has work in the new Lark Book, "Showcase 500 Art Necklaces". The book is now available on Amazon.

Stacy Low of Form and Funktion is part of a 3-artist show in the Quercia Gallery in Duncans Mills, California. The show is titled "Objects of Nature" and will run from August 1st to the 30th.

2Roses is featured in the new book "Behind the Brooch" by Lorena Angulo, published by Schiffer.
2Roses is also the subject of an interview for the upcoming issue of Polymer Cafe Magazine.

Su of Quercus Silver has new work in a selling exhibition at Made Gallery in Oakham and at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot, both in the United Kingdom.

Every Tuesday for the month of August, LjBjewelry will be selling her creations at the Cape Cod, Falmouth Art Fair in Town square.

Well, that's all the news that's fit to print.  See everyone next month!

Project Runway Season 12, Episode 1–“Sky's the Limit”

This post is our first challenge for Project Runway season 12.
Just to let you know that this challenge is open to everyone !
If you like to take part in the Project Runway challenges please read our guidelines at the end of this post.

Project runway Season 12 Week 1: “Sky's the Limit”
The Unconventional Materials Challenge.
Due date: Thursday, August 1st 2013 (midnight your time).

Skydivers parachuted the designer's materials to them, at an airport, right next to the runways. The designers were asked to use the parachute fabric to construct a garment showing their unique design sense and personality.
For our version in metal, we will use a somewhat unconventional material also related to aviation- Aluminum. Find some aluminum in your home or garage, a piece that was already used for another industry (maybe a pop can, part of a bike, part of a car? you get the idea ) and use it to construct a piece of jewelry that exhibits your own unique design personality. You may use other metals and materials, but the found aluminum should be the prominent design element of your piece. Tell us what your aluminum was in its former life and how you transformed it into a piece of jewelry that reflects your own distinct design personality.
